Bush Institute for Child and Family Policy at the Frank Porter Graham Child Development Center, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill This paper reviews demographic data on changes in the prevalence and types of single-parent families of handicapped and nonhandicapped children. Research on adaptation in single-parent families of handicapped children is discussed and critiqued with a view to identifying areas for future research.
